A 1987 Volvo 340 with just 132 miles (212 kilometers) on the odometer will go on sale at Anglia Car Auctions' !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in Kings Lynn, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The story of the car is that the original owner bought it brand new from Lancaster Volvo and has barely used it. The reason for that is that a few weeks after the sale the car suffered a coming together with a bollard at a garden center, grazing the driver's side wing.
The incident persuaded the elderly owner to put the car into the garage, where it stayed until the beginning of March 2014, when it was added to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! catalogue.
The result of a joint venture between !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and Dutch carmaker DAF, the 340 stood out among its contemporaries from Ford and VW thanks to its rear-wheel drive layout, De Dion suspension and rear-mounted gearbox.
This particular 340 is powered by a 1.7-liter Renault-sourced petrol engine and still has the original battery, coolant, oil and spark plugs. It has even retained its original dealer-issue Volvo-branded paper floor mats.
Despite the 27 years of inactivity, the 340 is said to start and run, although items like the brakes may well require attention. It shows no sign of rust and the interior is said to retain that new-car smell. The car is offered for no reserve, but those of you who want to participate at the auction should know there's a £50 entry fee.

Its both great and sad at the same time.
Great that a car such as this is in pristine 'as new' condition for someone to appreciate a new but also sad that such a minor incident 'knocked' the guy from driving his car and enjoying it to its fullest for all those years, also sad that the car itself was deprived of 27 years of motoring and may possibly again just sit as a museum piece or garage queen away from the world and its admirers.

Hmmn, I'll have to keep an eye on that. I've looked through their lists before. Lots of other interesting stuff on this one, too.
